Fiat has unveiled the transforming Multiplay concept for Paris, which it describes as the spiritual successor to its controversial Multipla model. The vehicle can function as both a vehicle and a pickup truck and a minivan.
Fiat has brought back the provocative Multipla people mover with its two-function Multiplay concept, which transforms from an open-bed pickup to a closed minivan when opened and closed.
The Multiplay, which is being presented ahead of the 2026 Paris Motor Show, has a new ‘Metamorphosis’ C-section design: It provides a 6+1-seat layout when open, and a four-seat open bed when folded.

While this is the first for the Italian brand, the Deepal E07 can also transform from a pickup to an SUV thanks to its retractable glass roof.
At 4.45 metres long, the Multiplay is shorter than the Toyota RAV4 and can carry more passengers in its three-row, two-seat configuration.
In people mover mode, Fiat says there is an additional ‘Petsenger seat’ – a modular seat that can be used as a child seat, table or extra storage space.
Fiat, however, puts the pet angle front and centre: The backrest of the extra seat can be converted into a harness and there is storage space enough to accommodate a food bowl.
Nevertheless, Fiat claims the third row can “carry two children or even an adult if needed” in the people mover configuration.
The front passenger seat can also be rotated to face backwards and reclined for use while the vehicle is parked.
In Pikap mode, the Multiplay clearly loses out on the third row of seats; the bed is said to be able to accommodate bulky items, including bicycles, sports and outdoor equipment. The rear section also allows the rear spoiler to rotate to act as a bicycle rack. Fiat has not yet detailed the powertrains that support the Multiplay; other features include a ‘hidden’ screen integrated into the dashboard and an exterior colour inspired by the carrot. Fiat produced the striking design Multipla between 1998 and 2010, but has not clarified whether the Multiplay, inspired by the Multipla, will go into production.
